5 out of 5 stars "Hitman" a book you can't put down   November 19, 2008
I rate "Hitman" up there with the best pro wrestling autobiographies on the market, including Mick Foley's No. 1 best-seller "ManKind: A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks," Chris Jericho's "A Lion's Tale" and "Pure Dynamite" by Tom "Dynamite Kid" Billington.

The Hitman offers an up-close and personal look into one dysfunctional family -- a family that includes snotty brat sister Alison, who used father Stu to create disharmony all the way up to Stu's death bed, and big brother Smith, who seemed to have more demons than any of the clan.

Bret is candidly honest about his life in and out of the "squared-circle," including talks on his extramarital affairs and the tragedies that struck brothers and friends alike.

Upon finishing "Hitman," if you don't have resentment in your heart for Alison Hart and Shawn Michaels -- for very, very different reasons, then you haven't read "Hitman".

5 out of 5 stars Amazing.   November 19, 2008
The only wrestling book you'll ever need, this one says it all written by the greatest of all time the Hitman Bret Hart. The Hitman holds nothing back and tells it like it is and was when he worked his way up in wrestling to become the greatest champion of all time that any wrestling to this day can still be proud of. This book will ever change the way you look at wrestling and some famous wrestlers who are mentioned as who they really are ie. HBK, HHH, Hogan. I highly recommend this book and the Bret Hart DVD set to any fans of Bret Hart and wrestling fans in general.

5 out of 5 stars Best there is   November 18, 2008
This is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be of wrestling books!

3 out of 5 stars What could have been...   November 16, 2008
I came into this book with an open mind. However, Bret Hart's book was supposedly based on "fact" because he carried around a tape recorder for twenty years so he'd remember, right? Not quite, too many times things seemed to change to make Bret look like the good guy when events have been noted to have happened different ways in other books.

It was nice to see a lot of things from Bret's perspective, but let's get real, the man has been whining non stop for nearly 12 years now...did you think the book was going to be any different?

Hogan? Sure, everyone had an issue with Hogan, but Bret, who do you think packed those arenas for you before you and Anvil had ever put pink on the first time?

Flair? Bret, when you try to say that Flair isn't one of the best workers AND ring generals of all time, you put yourself in a class with Scotty Steiner...when it comes to common sense, not a good class to be in.

Michaels? Why Bret? Because he did what the boss said? Because he had clearly surpassed you both in and out of the ring? Because he is still one of the top 5 wrestlers in North America today? I will give Bret credit for one thing when it comes to Shawn though, he never EVER tried to say Shawn wasn't a great worker...there is no way he could have said that and had anyone believe another word of his book.

However, if you got around the "everyone screwed me, I'm the best there is..." crap, you got some great insight into the locker room and the Hart Family. Take it with a grain of salt, of course, but it was still very, very interesting.

Very well written, very eloquent, very good story...if you could have just stopped all the whining you would have almost has something as good as Jericho and Foley's debut books...almost.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Wrestling Bio   November 15, 2008
I read Bret's book and over the summer and all I can say is that this Book is a must read for any Hitman fan and it will appeal to any wrestling fan and mark. A true story that puts you in the POV of Hart and he does not hold back. He talks about other peoples faults while doing the same to himself. It really shed a lot of light on the Hitman. I thought I knew everything about Bret via the internet, but this book really puts it all into perspective. I really enjoyed this book and I just could not put it down.
