Product Description
Written in plain, simple language, this book is a great study guide for massage therapists taking National Certification Examinations or state or local exams. The author restates the topics and concepts covered on the National Exams in a straightforward way for easy retention and comprehension. The text emphasizes memorization and repetition as effective study methods and includes test-taking tips, positive affirmations, and cartoons to ease apprehension about the exam. End-of-chapter practice questions help readers review material. A back-of-book CD-ROM contains three complete practice tests so students can practice taking exams and test their knowledge.

Faith's Review December 17, 2008 The Plain and Simple Guide to Theraputic Massage and Bodywork cert. is wonderfully easy to learn from with Affirmations that are geared at trying to help you succeed in this very important moment I took the NCTMB twice first time with a different review book the second with this one and I passed with flying colors the second time around. I learned alot that my school didn't even cover from this book as it is so simple and well layed out it is easy to put together all the peices of the human puzzle. I would highly recommend this book to anyone Siting for any of the National Exams and even State exams.
Helped but had many mistakes July 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I found the book to be helpful w/ good review and short quizes. The CD tests were also good practice-- a bit more specific than the actual test.
My big complaint w/ the book were the obvious and numbered mistakes on the quizes. Allen would give a letter answer w/ a mismatched answer. It made it very confusing and frustrating for me, having to look the answer up on my own.

Excellent book, really gives one an overview of what to expect in the field of Massage & Bodywork. This book helped me pass my NCE ! The CD gives a reasiltic idea of what type of Q's are on the Exam. I am very glad I invested in this. Would highly recommended to anyone in this field ! Thank you very much for this ! KC
EXCELLENT REVIEW BOOK FOR MASSAGE THERAPY June 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
IF IT HAS COFFEE STAINS AFTER STUDENTS HAVE BORROWED AND REFUSED TO RETURN IT, IT'S A GREAT BOOK. BUY IT, USE, SLEEP ON IT. PRESIDENT, BROOKLYN INSTITUTE OF MASSAGE THERAPY ( BROOKLYN, NEW YORK USA : ).
Very basic May 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For those of you looking for one or two comprehensive volumes to truly prepare you, think twice about this book. There are three chapters covered that you are not even tested on, all of which have tons of information. The emphasis of anatomy, physiology and kinesiology details is lacking in the book in comparison to the material covered in the test. I am not allowed to say what is on the test but i will tell you it is thorough and very detailed, medical terminology is essential and hardly covered in this book. I'd seek a A&P text for a university if i were you, even audit a class if you can. The practice exams provided on the CD-ROM barely followed the way the test is laid out outside of it being multiple choice. I am keeping this book because i think it will make a good general reference/guide but is not one i'd recommend, especially if you are not fresh out of massage school.
