Product Description
A concise and user-friendly guide to the essentials for conducting a meeting by the official Robert's Rules of Order authorship committee.

In a club, a condo association, or a board of overseers, how is business carried over from one meeting to the next? How is a meeting best kept on track? Who keeps the order and who decides what the agenda will be in the first place?

The answers to these concerns of assembly can be found in the rulebook of orderly meetings: Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised 10th Edition. But weighing in at over 700 pages, at least 80 percent of its content will be needed less than 20 percent of the time. Those not well versed in parliamentary procedure can find themselves lost while trying to get guidance on the everyday basics.

The solution? Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised Concise. Written by the officially sanctioned Robert's Rules of Order authorship team, this short and user-friendly "cheat-sheet" of a guide briefs readers on the rules most often needed at meetings--from debates and amendments to votes and nominations. With sample dialogues, helpful references to the "big" book throughout, and handy tips for elected or appointed officials, Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised in Brief is the essential abbreviated meeting rulebook.

5 out of 5 stars Robert's Rules Brief review   January 6, 2009
As a member of a very dysfunctional board I was driven to seek reliable advise regarding conduct of meetings, definitions, appropriate use of Robert's Rules. This book has not failed in its promise to be the concise guide! It has helped us to use the Rules to confirm consensus, maintain order and move group toward a more streamlined approach to meetings. Every "rule" can be used as a growing uplifting devise or as an oppressive devise - careful reading and use brings the group to orderly growing.

5 out of 5 stars A must for holding board meetings.   December 24, 2008
The Robert's Rules Of Order are a simple and easy way to refferance how a meeting should be conducted and since they are universilly accepted as the only rules of order, they have a genuine purpose for any type of meetings you might want to conduct.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent purchase. Highly recommend for managers, board members, or someone who wants to structure a meeting.   November 29, 2008
I bought this book to bring to the first meetings of a newly formed non-profit group. After reading it, not only did I find applications for the rules of order in the group but also at work, where a structured meeting that adhered to a certain time limit was greatly appreciated. Very good examples throughout the book and easy introduction to terminology. This is a survey book however, so don't expect extensive listings of rules or details.

5 out of 5 stars Very Informative   November 25, 2008
A must have for all persons who preside over meetings.
Cut down on meeting time, meeting more precise and to the point.

5 out of 5 stars Robert's Rules   November 23, 2008
I purchased this because I am on the Board of Director's for The Pearl Harbor Hawaiian Civic Club. It is incredibly helpful and I will never go to another meeting with out it!
