An absolute MUST read!I December 27, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I personally have read 3 other books by Picoult, and I must say to me this one was the best! Oh what an ending (I won't spoil it). Sometimes I feel Picoult goes on about things that have no reference to whats going on in the story. But in this novel it was relevant. I reccomend this book to anyone who has kids, a sister, or a mother. A great emotional read.
Great Heartwarming story of a young girl December 25, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My Sister's Keeper was the first Jodi Picoult's book I have read and it led me to read other Picout's books. The great thing about My Sister's Keeper is that it is a page turning book, has a great plot, characters, and the pivot at the end of the story. This book is mainly about a girl named Anna, a custom born baby, to help her sister survive who is suffering from leukemia. However, Anna is growing up and she doesn't want to donate her body parts to her sister. Therefore she provides herself an attorney and sues her parents. Later, Anna realizes the point of her life and gives up on the case. Picoult has arranged the story in a very unique way by alternating the speaker of the story in each chapter showing every main characters' thinking and their point of view. I would recommend this book a lot because it is such a heartwarming story and you can feel the sympathy for the family.
Very Good December 25, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really like how Jodi Picoult writes her books - her storylines and concepts to me are always unique and are wonderful starting points for a story. And this book has to be one of the best in the concept - having a child to donate organs to another child.
The book goes on to develop the charactors well and when you think you find someone either empathtic or intolreable due to their behvior, there is something around the corner which adds depth to them and pulls at you and you remotions.
I am not sure if it is quite as well written as some of her other books, but the storyline is so engrossing that it is a minor point to raise at all.
Magnanimus December 22, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I never enjoyed a book more. Though it was slow in some areas it only added to its totality of understanding the views of all those involved. Would give as a gift and request for any bookclub....
One of my favorites December 20, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is one of my favorite books I've ever read. This book circulated through my family, and I can't bring myself to sell it. Jodi Picoult has this fantastic ability to withold critical information from chapter to chapter, keeping you guessing. At times, however she does seem to give too much seemingly needless in-depth information when developing characters. Fantastic story, with great twists. A real tear-jerker.
